is located on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. Starting out as homebrewers more than a decade ago, the group now operates Kailua’s first brewery, where they produce premium craft beers with distinctive island style using local flavors.
Being one of the few Hawaiian breweries to brew 100% of their beer locally, Lanikai wanted to embrace the spirit of the islands for their new logo and packaging while avoiding the typical visual executions used by their competitors, such as tribal motifs and hula dancers.
A series of illustrations were commissioned for the project, each inspired by local landscapes, and each with a unique palette reflective of the beer style. Vivid, ocean-inspired colors set the tone for each label, with bold typography and carefully crafted stats and tips creating a clear distinction on store shelves for novices and enthusiasts alike.
Custom motifs capture Lanikai beach at different times throughout the day; lighter beers are tagged with a daylight scene, while darker beers feature the moon and stars. A sun-inspired logo pays tribute to the legendary setting and provides an iconic finishing touch.
